@frieda - yes, you are right. the friendships and relationships that we develop with each other have more real value than anything you could purchase with money. And yet we seem consumed with the notion that we need more and more "things" in order to be happy. But for many people the more they have the less happy they are. I think we will all find true happiness when we learn to value people more than things, learn to live with less and spend more time with friends and family.

the most important and valuable thing we have is our family ,our friends and our kids.
so we all have to think about investing on prerishable things or investing our efforts and money on what the real happiness is ...family.
you are so right about the attachment we have on materials.
if i get sick my car or designer purse will never call 911.but your partner ,your child will dial the number for you or even just even give you a glass of water........

@Karen - made some progress on the garage this weekend.

@Chuck - that is exactly how it feels sometimes and it just seems so ridiculous.

This reminds me of the observation I heard once about how we spend all day at work so we can earn money to buy things to put in the house that we are never in because we spend all day at work so that we can earn money to buy things to put in the house... and on and on.

Consumerism is indeed a vicious circle, and one that is very difficult to break out of. I'd write more on the subject, but I'm late for work.

I do exactly the same things. I like to think it shows a high level of intelligence - that's my story and I'm sticking to it. When you are done cleaning your garage come on up and clean ours........
