First, don’t slice the apples until the final moment before the shoot. Apples brown very quickly and a brown apple doesn’t look nearly as appetizing as a nice white flesh apple. One way to prolong the fresh look of a sliced apple is to coat the apple with lemon juice. Even more effective than lemon juice is ascorbic acid also known as vitamin C. I’ve also heard that soaking them in slightly salty water will prolong them as well.
The second lesson I learned is that I need to practice more with Photoshop. Some aspects of creating this image were challenging for me and I learned quite a bit.
