The month of August sure went by quickly. It’s hard to believe that it’s now September and the kids will be back in school soon. The weather will slowly start to change from the clear warm skies of summer to the crisp and moist skies of fall. I used to have favorite seasons but now I’ve come to realize that it’s better to just enjoy every moment you have be it sunny and warm or cold and rainy.
So several weeks ago I posted about our family entering photos (and a cake) into the Lane County Fair. I thought it only appropriate to post the results of our efforts. My son Zachary who is 8 years old and a photography lover was the families big winner. His sunset photo took second place in the junior division.
His other photo of the tulip fields at the Wooden Shoe Tulip Festival received a special award (with a fancy ribbon) and a $30 certificate to a local framing store.
He was so excited about the awards he won (even though his face might not be showing it here) that he stopped thinking about the carnival rides for 5 minutes and walked around looking at all the other photos on display. So proud of him.
My wife had entered a cake into the cake decorating competition. Her cake was a creation of a wine bottle resting in a wine crate. She took home second place.
Finally my photo of my son with headphones on took 1st place in portraits. This is the second year in a row now that I have taken the blue ribbon in this category and I owe it all to my awesome model.
It was a great day at the fair with the family and we were so excited about our ribbons. The kids had a great time looking at all the animals, watching the pig races and riding on a few “drain the bank” carnival rides. We topped it all off with a couple bags of cotton candy. We’ll see you next year Lane County Fair!
