Every Monday I post a photo that is meant to inspire you, motivate you, cause you to pause and ponder, remind you of your dreams and hopefully entice you to act on whatever your goals may be. This Monday, June 25th is a sunrise I experienced in Nusa Dua Bali Indonesia way back in 2005.
In 2005 we spent 2 months in Indonesia. At one point we left our son with the grandparents and my wife and I took a 2 week trip to Bali. On our first evening in Bali we stayed in Kuta and decided to walk down to the beach and watch the sunset.
My wife asked if I wanted to take my camera since the sunset was looking like it was going to be a good one. But after a day of carrying the camera around I decided to leave it in the hotel thinking that there would always be another opportunity.
That evening we witnessed one of the most spectacular sunsets ever. The reds and oranges and different hues and shades of color was incredible. Of course my wife looked at me and said “I bet you wish you had brought that fancy camera of yours now.”
At the time I really did kick myself for not taking my camera, but now years later I look back and instead of remembering a missed opportunity I remember experiencing an incredible sunset. Sometimes it’s better to step away from the camera and just experience the moment rather than worrying about whether you are getting the shot.
So I didn’t get a photo of the sunset on that trip but I did get this view of a beautiful sunrise from our hotel in Nusa Dua. Happy Monday!
“What day is it?”
It’s today,” squeaked Piglet.
My favorite day,” said Pooh.”
