Every Monday I post a photo that is meant to inspire you, motivate you, cause you to pause and ponder, remind you of your dreams and hopefully entice you to act on whatever your goals may be. Photo inspiration for this Monday, July 9th, is from Portland Oregon at the Hoyt Arboretum.
This is a Japanese Hornbeam (Carpinus japonica.) I took this image several years ago with a Canon 50mm f/1.8 (nifty 50) at f/1.8 so the depth of field (DOF) is very shallow and the bokeh (area not in focus or blurred) is so nice.
When I look at this photo it’s like the leaves are coming out of the bokeh as if from a different dimension.
Whatever you are doing this Monday make it great. Happy Monday!
”Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great makes you feel that you, too, can become great.” – Mark Twain

Hi Matt, Love your “Out of the Bokeh” photo. It did inspire me because I tend to try too hard all the time to have everything in focus, and you really sent home the message of the beauty in the bokeh in this shot. Thank you also for the reminder to remember my dreams and focus on my goals – the Twain quote is great too! Janine
Thanks Janine! The 50mm is a lens in my bag that probably gets the least amount of use and after revisiting this image I should probably use it more often. Glad you liked the shot and found some inspiration. Cheers!
