Every Monday I post a photo that is meant to inspire you, motivate you, cause you to pause and ponder, remind you of your dreams and hopefully entice you to act on whatever your goals may be. This Monday the inspiration comes from high in the Oregon Cascades.
One of my favorite places is Waldo Lake high in the Oregon Cascades. It is one of the purest lakes in the world and you can literally see tens of feet into it’s crystal clear water. With a maximum depth of 420 feet it is the second deepest lake in Oregon (the first is Crater Lake). Back in 2009 I captured this sunset on Waldo. It’s a 10 second exposure which blurs the water and makes it silky smooth. It was August which was also the height of the mosquito season and I just about went crazy from the constant high pitched whining in my ears from hoards of these irritants. But it was worth the sacrifice to come away with this beautiful image.
Know what you want to do, hold the thought firmly, and do every day what should be done, and every sunset will see you that much nearer the goal. ~ Elbert Hubbard

I just read your guest post on Married with Luggage. I know this is completely off topic but I’m so glad you are still blogging. I support whatever you do and whatever you blog about.

Thanks Ayngelina! It’s good to hear from you.
This is a simply a gorgeous photo. I love how you include the specs of your camera setting as a way to understand the thought process behind your photos.

Thanks! Whenever I see this photo I am instantly reminded of the hoards of mosquito that were attacking me. 🙂 It was this same trip that we got hit with a big storm. We were in camp and started hearing what sounded like a train. Since there were no tracks within many miles we wondered what the sound was. We figured it out quickly when the wind hit. Huddled in a tent with giant fir trees swaying back and forth above was a bit scary. Ever so often a flash of lightening and the boom of thunder would grab our attention. Thankfully we lived to tell the story. Waldo lake is definitely a beautiful place.
