Today was really a beautiful day so we decided to go for a drive. We ended up at King Estate Winery where we decided to take a few photos. The winery is quite magnificent and from a distance looks like a castle sitting up on the hill. It is surrounded by acres and acres of vineyard. At this time of the year they are nothing more than scraggly vines with absolutely no vegetation. In fact the whole area looks quite barren.
As we drove up to the main building there were these large magnificent doors. It made it seem even more like a castle with their arched stone framework and heavy wooden doors.
I wanted to get a shot of these doors and really isolate them from the building itself. This shot is the end result and is Day 15 of Project 365.

Matt, I highly recommend you take the winery tour, most preferably during the fall when they are harvesting grapes. It’s fascinating and you get to see the inner workings of the “castle”. The restaurant is also first rate but not really for kid’s. Deborah had her birthday there last August. We’ve dined on the patio before during warm weather and watched a full moon rising over the Lorane valley. Magical!
Oh, and a brief post script: Did you know King Estates winery is totally organic…they use no toxic sprays. And also sell organic produce grown in their gardens during the spring and summer.
@Tracker – Thanks for the additional information on King Estates. I was not aware that they are totally organic. We already plan on going back when there is some fruit on the vine and take the whole tour. It really is quite nice out there.
