On our last full day in San Francisco we decided to check out the Golden Gate Bridge. We drove down to the Toll Plaza and Visitors Center. The main parking lot is a metered lot so if you want to park there bring some coins. We found that if you drive under the Highway 101, take a left at the stop sign and then a right at the second stop sign there is a lot further up that is free to the public for 4 hours. It’s a short walk back to the Visitors Center.
From the Visitors Center there are great views of the bridge. From the top we could look down and see Fort Point, which is directly under the bridge, and a bit further east there was a pier that looked like it had great views of the bridge from water level.
With a bit of exploration we found a trail that led down to what I believe is Crissy Field and down to Marine Drive which leads to Fort Point. We hiked down and that is where I discovered this old rusty chain that was acting as a fence. I thought that it would make an interesting shot with the Golden Gate Bridge in the background.
