Tomorrow is my son Joseph’s birthday. Since he doesn’t attend school on Friday’s his class had a party for him today. He came home wearing his birthday crown and hasn’t taken it off all day. All month long he has been asking: “How long until my birthday?” It didn’t matter what the answer was it was always too long. Now that the date has arrived he is one happy kid.
I took a series of photos tonight using a white wall for the background, a Canon 580EXII in a shoot through umbrella camera right and a Canon 430EXII at full power directed at the white wall. I then pulled the images into ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) and processed each the same since the lighting was relatively the same. Then I copied each image into a blank image and adjusted them to be spaced out a bit. Then I used a filter from Topaz Labs called Topaz ReMask II which allowed me to easily mask Joseph and then create a more evenly white background. It’s amazing how easy it is to mask images with this utility. It really works magically. I then adjusted the image size for the web and saved it off. You can click on the image for a larger picture. Camera settings are below.
Canon 5DII | Canon 50mm | f/6.3 | 1/125th sec. | ISO 100
