There is a number of ways that we typically cook salmon. Often we will steam it with some herbs and spices. Steaming the fish leaves it very tender and moist.
Sometimes we will bake it in the oven. My wife makes a sauce out of mayo to bake on top of it. Baking salmon can be tricky because it’s really easy to over cook the fish and over cooked salmon gets dry and tough.
The final way we often cook salmon is to fry it. My wife uses canola oil for this but my preference is olive oil. I like to cook it until the middle is just starting to turn color. Since food will continue to cook well after it is off the heat I’ll take it out of the pan at this point and let it finish on the plate.
I like to marinate the fish at times with fresh garlic, lemon juice and soy sauce. I just put it all in a Ziploc bag and keep in the refrigerator over night.
