I’ve been a huge fan of Chris Guillebeau’s website The Art of Non-Conformity. If you haven’t checked it out before you should because it may just change the way you view your life. In particular read A Brief Guide to World Domination which is a free manifesto Chris wrote several years ago.
So Chris wrote a book (see Project 365: Day 199 photo) and it is available now. In fact it made it all the way to #8 on the Amazon.com best seller list today. I was lucky enough to have received a preview copy of this book and I have to admit that I couldn’t put the thing down. As stated on page 1 the purpose of the book is to “transform your thinking about life and work.” And boy does it deliver.
Here is what I like about this book. It’s all true. Chris doesn’t mince words when it comes to telling you what you need to do to escape being just average. He lists out 11 ways you can be remarkably average and then proceeds for the rest of the book tell you how you can be escape that trap and become exactly who you were meant to be: remarkable.
Through personal stories and experiences Chris will transform your thinking, forcing you to take responsibility for your own life and work hard to get what you want. As Chris states early on; You don’t have to live your life the way others expect you to. You can live the life you want while making a difference for others.
I may be a bit biased when I say that this is one of the best books I have read. In fact I bought several copies and am giving away 2 copies over at 1yearsabbatical.com Just leave a comment on where you would go if you were to take a 1 year sabbatical and you could win this book.
Who knows…it could be just what you needed to start your own adventure.
